Fracture for Fracture

Fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth.

Today I did a photoshoot with Rebecca Hare where we played with mirrors, curtains, sunlight and flashes. Here is a selection of the photos we did. There is a lot of darker undertones in the photos in this blog post, mixed with some biblical quotes.

Rebecca is a vicar’s daughter, so we started with something a bit cliché, her holding a bible.

This makes me think of Emperor Palpatine for some reason.

Our version of Galadriel.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

There was this big mirror on the wall next to the window, so we took it down and did some mirror-mirror photos.

For now we see through a glass, darkly;
but then face to face: now I know in part;
but then shall I know even as also I am known.

One more mirror photo, here going a bit closer and having Rebecca look at herself rather than the camera. I included the hand in the photo to provide a bit of context.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

This photo was inspired by a painting we found when we googled for red-haired women in paintings.

Rebecca procured two additional mirrors. We took two almost identical photos, but I ended up combining them into this photo to get the best expressions on her face from the two photos.

No Photoshop tricks here, just three mirrors.

The crack in the mirror cast a shadow on Rebecca’s face when we lit her with a flash. It is as if the fracture in the mirror image is transferred onto the real Rebecca.

As in water face reflects face, So the heart of man reflects man.

Adding a hand for drama. The lighting is provided by a snooted flash that Rebecca is holding in her right hand.

Something different. Rebecca is holding Maureen, the polar bear. She was a foul-mouthed prop in the play ‘The Heretic’.

Legs and red curtains.

Not sure how we ended up with this photo, but notice the reflection in the knife which makes it stand out more.

…or this photo.

Not sure how to summarise this photoshoot. It was fun, and a bit weird, but mostly fun.
