Sidney Sussex Arts Festival

The Sidney Sussex Arts Festival was last Saturday. There were many different things going on, but I went there to photograph a dress rehearsal (see Blood Wedding redux) and a set of dance performances. Below are a few photos from the dance performances.

I really liked that IsabelleĀ and her crew had decided to include sand in their performance. Molly Frederikse, Paula Kaanders, Alys Williams, and Isabelle Barber.

Don’t just scroll past this next photo, stop and have a look at it. Hao climbed up in the doorway, then jumped down with his arms outstretched. It took us a few tries to get it right.

Normally I do my dance photography of shows during the rehearsals. With an audience I felt constrained in how I moved, shooting mainly from the side or the back so as to not distract too much. An option could have been to place myself in the centre isle to get photos from the front, but then I would have been stuck in one position. Regardless, it was fun to see the dancersĀ one last time before I left Cambridge.
