Weight of Light

This past Saturday Susanna Carreño Primera came out to Näsbypark for a dance photoshoot in Näsbypark. I recently put up a new studio background in the kitchen, and this was the premier photoshoot with this new setup. It allows me more flexibility in the positioning of the lights, and I can shoot from a larger distance. Not needing to squeeze against the window or the radiator to get that extra distance.

For those wondering about the title. The photons that makes up light does not have a weight, but they have energy, and from that you can calculate a mass equivalent using Einstein’s equation (E = m·c²). We know that about 173000 TW of sunlight hits the Earth on average, so if we do the calculation for the mass-equivalent of the amount of light the Sun deposits on the Earth we get 1.9 kg per second. Thus the title, the weight of light. Of course the light can be captivating, or weight you down in other ways also.

If you look on the back of the camera the photo is pitch black, but if you push the exposure in Lightroom several stops you see that there is something recorded on the sensor. It is noisy, and messy, but there is something with character there.
