This blog post is a collaboration with Elisa Lions a french ballerina from the Royal Swedish Ballet and Elaine Chiu (趙綺婷) a Hong Kong based painter. Elaine paints beautiful city scapes, and you can see more of her art on elainechiu.com. Our plan was to have the body paint evolve throughout the photoshoot, making it into a living thing that changed. So between the photos Elaine would step in and add some more details to the painting.
For those wondering about the blog post name, Mélusine is a French mythical creature that is a woman with a serpent’s lower body, much like a mermaid. Several royal houses used to claim to be descendants of Mélusine. You can read more about the legends of Mélusine on Wikipedia (linked above).
