This past Saturday I did a photoshoot with Alicia Gérardin, Anaïs Nastassja Höchtl, Lorena Rodriguez Fernandez and Kristelle Teeväli from the Royal Swedish Ballet School. Alicia and Anaïs are modern dancers, while Loren and Kristelle are classically trained. The location for the day was Gamla Stan, and our first stop was an inner courtyard surrounded by houses in bright colours, which created a beautiful soft light.
Hey, my name is Alicia. I come from France, from Paris but I decided last year to apply for the international program at the Royal Swedish ballet school and this is how I ended up here in Stockholm! I started dancing when I was three because my mother is a formal dancer and now she’s a dance teacher!

Hi, my name is Kristelle, I come from little country near to Sweden – Estonia. I started with ballet when I was 2-years old, fell in love and have done it ever since, so 16 years already. Now I am İnternational ballet student in The Royal Swedish Ballet School.

My name is Lorena and I’m from Madrid, Spain. I started ballet because my sister was also dancing, and so we ended up going to ballet classes together. I’ve danced ever since. Last year I graduated at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid and this year I’m training at the Royal Swedish Ballet School. I dance because I love the way ballet combines art and technic at the same time, and I believe that’s what makes this profession so special.

Our next stop was Prästgatan, which has houses on only one side, letting the sky bring more light in from the other side. Since we were photographing int he afternoon there were quite a few people walking about, so we had to be a bit patient and then quick when the background was clear.
Hello, my name is Anaïs. I come from Switzerland. I started with ballet at the age of 12 years and switched later my focus to contemporary dance. Currently I’m studying as an international student at The Royal Swedish Ballet School.

Our final stop was Brantingtorget, which is a pretty quiet place with a fountain in the middle. There are a few different pathways into the square, and one of them has really beautiful walls and light.
Many thanks to Alicia, Anaïs, Lorena and Kristelle for a fun photoshoot!
