Yesterday Johanne Lyshagen and Marthe Sverd Dragsund joined me for a dance photoshoot at Tranebergsbron. We started photographing by the big concrete walls by the south side where there were more light. Johanne had brought with her a set of flowers that we incorporated into a set of pictures.
My name is Marthe Sverd Dragsund, I come from Oslo, Norway and am now a second year student at Balettakademien Stockholm. My dance background lies mostly in jazz and contemporary but after moving to Stockholm last year my eyes and heart have opened up for so much more. With dance I can constantly explore and challenge myself within my own movement. It lies so much more behind oneself than you may think.

For me it’s the exploration and the unknown in dance that makes me want to continue learning every day. I will always be curious about what else my body can do.
With Johannes Hjorth we had a lot of artistic freedom. Exploring movement in front of a camera was new to me, but with great feedback from both Johannes and Johanne I think we captured some awesome shots. You don’t really know how it looks when you’re there so for me going through the photos afterwards was as exciting as the shoot itself.
My name is Johanne Lyshagen Stette, I am 21 years old and come from Ålesund, Norway. I started dancing when I was 4 years old but I was in the dance studio from I was born thanks to my two older sisters who were dancing long before me. I have had the joy and passion for dancing as long as I can remember. The feeling of how the body moves when dancing is something you can’t imagine just by watching someone else dance. It is truly amazing and addicting.

I knew from a young age that I had to pursue dancing as a career. I couldn’t imagine having to go a day without dancing. So now I’m in the second year studying at Balettakademien’s professional dancers education.
Dance is art, I love that you can express feelings and stories to an audience. It is also amazing how a photograph of dance can tell the same sort of story, even though it only captures a second of it.
This photoshoot was very fun! It was a beautiful location I have never visited before, so there was a lot to explore. We brought flowers and a big white cloth to experiment with, and the results was above all expectations. We had a really nice collaboration and communication during the shoot so that we got the best possible pictures and experience.
For the next part we headed closer to the water where there were more wind to give life to the cloth that Marthe had brought with her.
