This past Sunday Ellen Olson came out to Näsbypark for a photoshoot. On her way she had raided Balettakademien’s costume storage for some fun outfits, and found an amazing rust coloured dress with a bit heavier cloth that allowed it to flow beautifully in the air. It was a terribly cold day, around -15C so we shot indoors, starting in my kitchen against the white wall.
Hi, my name is Ellen, I’m 23 years old and I’m now in the 3rd year at Balettakademien Stockholms professional dancers education.
Ellen Olson
I started dancing at the age of 8, only because I wanted to find a hobby outside of school. The reason I chose dance was because my older sisters already went to a dance school. I did not enjoy it at first actually, but as the years passed, I found the joy in it.
Dance has been a huge part of my life for so long now that it’s a natural part of me and who I am. What I love most about it is the moments where dancing makes you feel something whether it’s a physical or emotional experience.
For the second part of the photoshoot we headed up to the Green Room. The plan was to experiment with the smoke machine, and a restricted beam of light which would catch the smoke and illuminate it.
Many thanks to Ellen for a fun photoshoot!
