Statuesque Ambiance

This past Sunday Kale Lazarick and one of his friends from the Royal Swedish Ballet School visited for a dance photoshoot in my Green Room. I have photographed with Kale on several occasions (link to those blog posts), you can find a list of our previous photoshoots here.

Kale Lazarick. Self styled. This could be a leaf out of a fashion magazine. Natural light.
Kale Lazarick. There is something raw about the pose and attitude of Kale in this photo.
Kale Lazarick, a more elegant pose.
Kale Lazarick. It was around this time that we started to look at Greek statues to find some inspiration for poses. Here Kale is employing the contrapposto, where the weight is shifted onto one foot.
Kale Lazarick. For a few photos I switched to my 40 year old 135 mm f/2.8 Nikkor lens, to get a bit of a vintage look. To be able to use it in the Green Room I had to stand pressed against the wall to get as much distance as possible. It is a manual focus lens, so this really slowed things down.

Kale Lazarick. Some of my favourite photos are when we are able to capture a sense of calmness and motion at the same time. The tie flying in the air made all the difference.

Many thanks to Kale and his friend for a fun photoshoot!
