Yesterday Alice Öhman and Paulina Rosenkvist came out to Näsbypark for a dance photoshoot. We started the day early, meeting up just before sunrise and heading down to Kråkudden. There were quite a bit of clouds approaching, but we were lucky to get some photos right at sunrise while the sun still peeked through below the cloud cover.
My name is Paulina Rosenkvist and I’m a first year student at yrkesdansutbildningen at Balettakademin. My identity is strongly connected to dance and I don’t remember a time in life when I didn’t dance. I started at the early age of two years old and have kept on going ever since.

I’ve been dancing competitively for ten years in disco and hiphop (and ballroom for a period of time) for the Swedish national team. Although that has been my main focus over the years have I always been interested in a big variety of styles and tried every type of dance coming my way. I’m continuously searching for new knowledge and opportunities to approach dance in different manners. That has made me a broad dancer.
I love that dance comes in different forms that allows everyone to enjoy it. Could be as a dancer performing on stage, as an audience, at the club partying with friends or all alone in the kitchen jamming to a good song while making pasta. For me, dance is what the dancer makes it.
Afterwards we headed in to the warmth to photograph in the Green Room.
My name is Alice, I’m 21 years old and I come from Luleå. I’m a first year student at Balettakademien’s yrkesdansarutbildning. I started with gymnastics when I was a kid where I competed for a few years and my favourite part was doing my floor routine with music. That made me eventually try out dance, jazz for starters and I was hooked. I had found my thing because it brought me so much joy and as I continued dancing I knew that’s what I wanted to do. It always came back to dance.

I love to dance because that’s when I feel most like me. There is nothing I’d rather see myself doing. With dance you’re able to express what words can’t and I love that about it. There is no limits to what dance is so you can make it what ever you want.
After lunch the sun once again appeared through the cloud cover, and we had some beautiful light in the kitchen which we decided to make use of. The sun sets before 15:00 in Sweden at this time of year, so we soon also had that beautiful golden light from the sun.
