Angled and Tangled

Yesterday Elin Huusmann, Alice Burefjord, Sanna Oksanen and Zara Stojanovic Derving from Balettakademien came to Näsbypark for a dance photoshoot. The weather was quite cold, so we ended up doing the entire photoshoot indoors. Here is a selection of our favourite photos.

I’m Elin and I’ve been dancing for as long as I could remember. Even when I couldn’t walk I would nod my head back and forth to the rhythm of ‘ain’t it funny’ by JLO. Dance isn’t just an art form or a hobby for me but it’s a part of my life. It’s has always been my motivation and force through life and I hope I’ll be able to dance even when I’m old and grey.

Hi! Sanna is my name and I’m 20 years old. It feels like I spend almost 100% of my time at Balettakademien with my friends and I wouldn’t change that for anything. To get to express yourself through dance and doing what you really love with friends is something I really appreciate. You can tell someone something without having to use words, you only have to use movements and let the creativity flow.

My name is Zara. I’m 19 years old and I am currently a student at Balettakademien in Stockholm. It was through my love for music that i found my interest in dance at a young age. I would watch my favourite artists’ music videos and try to copy the choreography together with my big sister. Dancing has become such a blessing in my life as it has allowed me to gain confidence and get comfortable in my own skin. It can bring me so much joy as well as frustration and I discover new things about myself as a dancer and as a person. I am very grateful for that.

Zara Stojanovic Derving. We opened the window to let in a bit of fresh air. We loved how the wind played with Zara’s hair, so we ended up keeping the window open until the room started to get a bit too cold.

Hi! My name is Alice and I’m 20 years old. For me dancing is a space where I can feel. It has allowed me to become more confident, creative and vulnerable. It also connects me to myself and to the people I love. Right now I’m enjoying my studies at Balettakademien Stockholm and we’ll see where my love for movement will take me in the future.
