Less is More

This past Sunday Emelie Boll and Annie Dahlin came out to Näsbypark for a dance photoshoot. Annie Dahlin is a Stockholm based dancer that studies the second year at Balettakademins Yrkesförberedande Dansutbildning.  We met up in the morning at around eight, and the weather was so great that we decided to do a little session outdoors first before heading indoors for the main part of the photoshoot.

I was born with a body and soul that since kindergarten rather danced around in the living room than played with toys. I was introduced to dancing and that day I found my place of passion.

I have always been a person of consistent interest in learning, consistent curiosity with a creative mind. It is taking me to studies in New York City and to other places around the world. Building a multi-skilled performer who is singing and dancing through life.

In addition I have had the chance to teach different styles and age-groups. Something I have truly enjoyed since bringing perspective and ideas on how to grow in my own training. I have a lot to give the world out there, many years ahead of sharing and shining. This past weekend my passion for moving got to shine in front of Johannes camera.

Dance has always been a passion, since my childhood (dancing in my living room, with a hairbrush-microphone and my mother’s accessories) and until this day. I’m having a hard time defying what my favourite style is, but to make it easy it’s a perfect combination of jazz and contemporary. With the grounded and flowing feeling from one and the sharpness and speed from the other.

I’ve been teaching as well. Mostly jazz technique but also heals and jazz funk. I really like teaching because it gives me new perspectives and ideas.

I love telling stories and painting pictures with movements and my body, and I feel so lucky to be able to do that everyday.

Annie had a hairdressing appointment at lunch time, so had to leave, but Emelie and I continued photographing for a bit longer.
