Luce dalla finestra

Today Martina Torti from the Royal Swedish Ballet came out to Näsbypark for a dance photoshoot. Spring is here, but it is still a bit cold outside, so we decided to photograph in the Green Room. All the photos today were taken using natural light, with some of them augmented with one studio light to lift the shadows a bit. Here is a selection of some of our favourite photos.

I have been dancing since I was four, my parents brought me to my first ballet class and I loved it. Ballet as always been the biggest part of my life, and now I am a professional dancer with the Royal Swedish Ballet. When I was thirteen I left Italy to go study ballet in Basel, Switzerland. I was there for four years and after graduating I came here in Stockholm at the Royal Swedish ballet school, where I got a contract to join the company. I really couldn’t imagine my life without dance.

I have this beautiful cloth that I bring out from time to time to let the dancers experiment with. It is quite light, and it picks up and trails the movement of the dancer.

Martina Torti. I just realised that not all photos were taken using natural light. This and the next shot had a studio lamp aimed from above, and the curtains were partly pulled to just bring in a bit of light from the outside.

Many thanks to Martina for a fun photoshoot!
